Marcello Spina

Marcello Spina studied violin with Maestro Luigi Fusconi at the Corelli Conservatoire, Messina, where he attained the violin diploma, with highest marks. Afterwards he undertook post-graduate study with Maestros Giulio Franzetti, Gorge Mönch and Felice Cusano.

In 1991, he played in the National Youth Orchestra of Italy while studying chamber music at the Fiesole school of music with maestros A. Nannoni and A. Faja.

A leading finalist in many national and international competitions, he was awarded 1st prize as the absolute winner of the national A.M.A. competition of Calabria.

After being violinist in the Teatro San Carlo Orchestra of Naples, the Orchestra of the Opera di Roma, the City of Bologna Orchestra and the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, he is currently Principal 2nd violin of the Teatro Massimo Bellini Orchestra, of Catania, with which, besides performing at its concert seasons, he has made important international tours in Japan, Russia and America.

He presently carries out an intense chamber music concert schedule.
