Salvatore Domina

Violin

Salvatore Domina was born in Catania and started learning violin at age 9, and at 19 he attained the violin diploma, under professor Rosario Chiara. Afterwards he undertook post-graduate study with Pietro Marabete, Juliu Hamza and Serghej Grischenko.

A winner of various orchestral auditions, and competitions for permanent orchestral positions, he entered the orchestra of Teatro Massimo "Vincenzo Bellini" of Catania when he was 18. In 1990 he was appointed assistant leader of that orchestra.

He has also led many symphonic concerts and opera and ballet performances including Il Trovatore, Aida, Macbeth, Petruska and Bellini's Norma, when that opera was performed throughout Japan during an opera tour. He has also toured Russia and Spain with the orchestra. In 1996, he founded the Orpheus string ensemble, which he leads, and the Ettore Paladino string quartet.

These ensembles of his have given numerous concerts both at the Teatro Massimo Bellini and also for many music associations throughout Italy.
